Hate centralized banking institutions? Ever wanted to pay for your morning latte with a debit card that uses a digital currency not tied to any government? You might be in luck soon. BitInstant, a transfer service for a digital currency known as BitCoins, said it is in talks with MasterCard to release a debit card that, theoretically at least, would enable you to pay for goods and services at a wide variety of retailers. BitCoins are essentially a decentralized digital currency and payment system created in 2009 and designed for instant, surcharge-free transactions. Each BitCoin is an encrypted byte of data representing a denomination of value. BitInstant is a service that helps BitCoin users make transfers, and is one of the biggest players in this open-source digital marketplace.
