Thanks for this post. I'm pleased to read that the device will allow the back up of its private keys, from what's on their site I had understood the opposite. With backup features, it becomes a much better, likely the best bitcoin wallet available. Only missing "plausible deniability" to be just perfect. ;-) Now, on the backup feature, I didn't understand why is their website necessary in the process. If they consider "having the devices only create their key pair after they are in the consumer’s hands", I suppose (and hope!) they don't intend to store the keys in their website. So, why does the backup has to go through their website? Btw, I disagree about the weakness you raise. Even if there's no mesh network, this card still works like any debit/credit card: it allows me to pay any merchant properly equipped.
