Your Web-App Technologie Stack

always when I bootstrap an webapp it takes me hours to struggle around with different frameworks, helpers and lib's until I think this will work out. I would love to hear what you guys are using. I use sinatra (for dynamic) and nanoc (for static) things. Recently started with sass and compass. I still use mysql or whatever available, but mostly avoid databases at all.
