Well, what’s holding me back is that I’m in a small shop. I have limited experience with Java, and pretty much zero experience with the Java webstack. I’m very interested in JRuby, not in the least because it would allow me to integrate two of my favorite languages, Ruby and Clojure. But having no experience or knowledge of the best-practices in JVM-land, in terms of deployment, the experience seems a bit daunting. Ideally, I’d want something which is managed through apt+rvm. I’m currently using Passenger both in development and in production. This means you have relatively few moving parts, no webserver which proxies to a seperate application server which I have to figure out if it’s stable enough, or how to keep it up if it’s not. I’ve been bitten by mongrel etc too often in the past. And I’ve grown pretty fond of having virtualhosts running off of port 80 in development...
