The Ruby Weekend is over – first of all thank you to Liane and Tatjana , who did an awesome job organizing the whole event, and the fantastic coaches who were super motivated to teach us girls some RoR! On Friday, all of the attendees and the coaches came together for a quick installing party, and a traditional Friday Hug . But the main event started saturday morning. In an unconventional and creative atmosphere at Gasmotorenfabrik Cologne, all in all 70 participants got a solid introduction to Ruby on Rails. Besides a full-day workshop in small groups of maximum 5 girls, and always two coaches per group, breaks were filled with super interesting talks entitled “Let’s get coding” or “How to speak geek”. Especially inspiring were the presentations of Joan Wolkerstorfer , who taught herself programming and started working in a software company a year later, and Karen Sijbran...
