Ruby comprehensions as an excuse This talk uses Ruby implementations of Python's list, set, and dictionary (hash) comprehensions as an excuse to discuss functional programming in Ruby, focusing especially on using blocks to add syntax to the language. To provide a broader context, we briefly discuss some features of the Lisp programming language, including macros and lexical closures, and how they relate to "Matz's personal Lisp". The talk concludes by building up the full implementations (including tests!) of Python comprehensions in Ruby.
